 1. Excavator Positioning

Park the excavator with the bucket cylinders oriented vertically at a 90 angle to the ground. Ensure the bucket is fully curled in and rests securely  against the stops. This stabilizes the machine and minimizes movement  during the protection system installation.

 2. Clamp Bracket Installation

Using an Elevated Work Platform (EWP), position the cylinder clamp brackets  near the base of each bucket cylinder tapers.

  •  Remove the M16 clamp pivot bolt during initial placement.

  •  Once the clamp is properly seated, reinstall the M16 pivot bolt followed  by the M20 tensioner bolt.

  • Ensure both clamps are mounted at an equal height, aligned parallel to  each other, with the conveyor belt bolting surface facing forward.

3. Conveyor Belt Protector Positioning

With the aid of a crane, lift the conveyor belt protector into position using the  two designated lifting points located at the top of the structure.

 4. Fastening and Torqueing

Once the protector is aligned, install  required torque, 350NM

  •  Use spring washers and secure each connection with double nuts or  lock nuts to prevent loosening during machine operation.

 5. Maintenance Recommendation

Mine Design recommends replacing the bucket cylinder protection brackets  and associated hardware whenever the conveyor belt section is replaced, due  to potential fatigue in the bracket components.
